About Active Release Techniques

Active Release Techniques (or ART®), is a method of treating the soft-tissue structures of the body (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves) with movement based, manual techniques.  ART is particularly effective at addressing headaches, neck pain, back pain, arm or leg pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, among other overuse conditions or injuries.  Providers that can take the courses and pass the practical exam and become "certified" include chiropractors, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and massage therapists.  Certified ART providers are highly sought after by many professional and collegiate sports teams, as well as the US Olympic Sports Medicine team.

Dr. White is whole-body certified, meaning he has taken and successfully passed the spine, upper extremity, and lower extremity courses.  He has also taken and passed the spine level 2 course.  He has had excellent success using ART on many of his patients, including professional fighters and volleyball players, Olympic rowers, and amateur athletes.  He was noticing fast and notable improvement with his athletes and started using ART on his non-athletic patients as well, also with excellent results.

The “Certified” designation regarding the Active Release Techniques is not currently recognized by the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine.
It is, however, recognized by most accredited Chiropractic Colleges, Physical Therapy Schools, and Athletic Training and Massage Therapy programs, nationally and internationally.
